Policies:

All Members must signify that they believe the Statement of faith and agree to the policies upon joining this support group.

All Members are actively home schooling at least one child in grades K-12, according to Indiana State Law.

The success of each event depends on participation of parents, such as planning, executing, set-up and clean up.

Participation in support group activities is open to members only unless the Leadership Team has granted prior approval of guests. The member family would be responsible for their guests.

Courtesy to activity organizers is expected by recognizing deadlines, age/grade limits and financial arrangements.

The support group does not carry any insurance for your children. Parents are expected to carry their own insurance. Parents/ participants agree to not hold the support group and/or organizers of activities liable in the event children are injured.

Dues will not be pro-rated.

Member families, who are unable to renew their membership dues because of financial hardship, may request that dues be waived for one year, subject to approval of the Leadership Team.

Moms Meetings are for Moms. Childcare will not be provided. If children attend parent meetings, they must sit quietly with their parents.

We reject the Anti-Christian tenets of secular humanism, including the general theory of evolution; witchcraft; government mandated sex education; government mandated parenting courses; modern feminist ideology; abortion; the promotion of homosexuality as an alternate and acceptable life-style; the use or sale of illegal drugs; or involvement in any illegal activity.

Members who serve as planners will do so by the authorization of the Leadership Team and must be a member of this support group.

During support group activities, it is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that their children’s conduct does not bring liability or reproach to the Arrows from God support group.

If a conflict, misunderstanding, or hurt feelings arise between any members, it is the policy of Arrows to follow the pattern given in Matthew 18 for conflict resolution. Please do not share your offence with uninvolved members. The offended member must seek to resolve the conflict between the two parties. If either party is unsatisfied or resolution cannot be met, they need to seek the assistance of an objective party (typically the Director or other member of the Leadership Team) to mediate. If necessary the conflict will be taken to all members of the Leadership Team to make a final decision in the matter. (Matthew 18; 5:9; Romans 12:18, Ephesians 4:32)

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to the homepage of the Arrows From God  Homeschool Support Group. We're so glad you stopped by for a visit. Arrows is a support group for Christian families educating their children at home in grades K-12.  Arrows from God is a homeschool support group in Southeastern Indiana.  Our members are from the Lawrenceburg, Aurora,  Dillsboro, Moores Hill, Milan, & Batesville area.

Our purpose is to support and equip our members for their homeschool journey. We do this by providing activities that are fun, educational and interesting for our children. We especially focus on our homeschooling moms and their need for fellowship and support.

 For Our Moms

We have monthly Moms Meetings. These meetings incorporate Bible study to encourage us as mothers as well as much-needed fellowship to forge friendships among us. Each spring we encourage our families to attend the Homeschool Conventions in Cincinnati and/or Indianapolis.

 For Our Children
We have field-trips to introduce our children to all the wonders of God's world and the many important people and places that are in it. We hold monthly gym days to help build strong bodies. In the Spring we have Spring Enrichment Classes, a time to meet weekly and attend multi-grade classroom settings to study and explore topics that might not be available to a single family environment. In the past we have studied composers such as J.S. Bach, Astronomy, Pioneers, Science Experiments, STEM projects, Choir, Art class and much more.  We offer Standardized Testing each year in the spring.

 For Our Families

Each year we host a back-to-school picnic in August that includes a pitch-in dinner, games, and a great time for the dad's to get to know each other. At the end of May we have our Open House, which wraps up our Spring Classes and gives families the opportunity to showcase their children's work and achievements for grandparents, families and friends.

Statement of Faith

CONCERNING THE SCRIPTURES
We believe the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments to be the complete and only inspired Word of God, inerrant/ infallible and therefore the supreme and final authority in faith and life. II Timothy 3: 16; II Peter 1:20-21

CONCERNING GOD
We believe there is one, and only one God, creator and supreme ruler of heaven and earth, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent existing as three Persons- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal and of the same essence in nature, attributes, power, and glory. I Corinthians 8:6; Matthew 28:16-20

CONCERNING JESUS CHRIST
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ(fully God and fully man simultaneously), in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and substitutionary death on the cross for sinners, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension, His present and continuing mediatorship, and in His personal future return in power and glory. John 1:1-3

CONCERNING THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine Person proceeding from the Father and Son, and is therefore eternal, and of the same essence, majesty, and glory with the Father and Son. We believe therefore that the Holy Spirit is truly God and that His work is to convict the sinner and erring Christian, that He is the agent in regeneration, that He indwells, seals, sanctifies, assures, guides, instructs, and empowers the believer. I Corinthians 2:12

CONCERNING SIN AND SALVATION
We believe that Adam was created perfect in the image of God, that he sinned and brought physical, spiritual, and eternal death upon himself and mankind, that humanity is now fallen and sinful by nature, because of sin, man is separated from God and incapable of pleasing Him apart from divine grace; that we can be saved-not by works but only by grace, through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ whose blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. Romans 3:21-24

CONCERNING CREATION
We believe that the Genesis 6-day account of creation is literal; that the creation of man was a direct act of God and was not from previously existing forms of life. Genesis 1:1

CONCERNING SEPARATION
We believe that Christians should separate themselves from practices and influences of the world, which hinder a spirit -filled life, and from all forms of ecclesiastical apostasy. Ephesians 4:22- 24; Romans 12:2

CONCERNING MARRIAGE, GENDER, AND SEXUALITY
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25.) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4.)
We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, transgender, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6:9-10.)
We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of this organization it is imperative that all members of Arrows from God, or those who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality. (Matt 5:16; Phil 2:14-16; 1 Thess 5:22.)
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11.)
We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31.) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of this organization.

CONCERNING OUR CALLING
We believe God, in His Word, has given parents the responsibility and authority to educate their children in a godly manner. Deuteronomy 6:6-7; 11:19

So, you’ve decided to investigate home schooling for your family. Maybe you’ve already made that commitment but would like to know where to go for more information, or who has the best prices on curriculum and activity sets. Below we’ve listed several websites where helpful info can be found, and also links to some of our favorite suppliers.

What are the Homeschooling laws in Indiana?
The compulsory school attendance law requires all children to attend a school taught in the English language. Children must attend school for the number of days the public school is in session in the district where you live. Home schools are not bound by any requirements with regard to curriculum or the content of educational programs. Children must start school by their 7th birthday. Indiana Code IC 20-8.l-3-17

According to Indiana Code IC 20-8.1-3-23 to 24b Parents must keep attendance records. The law also states that if you are contacted by the State Superintendent, you must furnish your school’s enrollment of children by grade level. Most families do not feel the need to report information until asked.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Am I required to go to everything that Arrows offers?

A: Arrows from God has a wide variety of things that they offer to families. We depend on the families to help us know what the needs are.  Every family has different needs and stages of life. Each family has to determine what is best for their family and what would benefit their home school endeavor.

The answer is no - you are not required to go to everything that Arrows offers. That being said please keep in mind that Arrows success depends on families that are willing to serve each other.  The leadership team alone cannot do it.  All we ask is for the things you want to be a part of- be willing to serve in some capacity.

 Q: What are Mom's meeting?

A: The moms of the families usually meet every other month. It is a time where we can come together and encourage one another.  We talk about upcoming events or possibilities that relate to our home schooling efforts.  It is a time where we can tell each other about a great find!  We enjoy a snack and have a devotion.

Q: What is the Moms Retreat?

A: The Moms Retreat is an event that usually is in January (weather permitting).  In the past we have used a friend’s cabin in Milan.   We usually begin the retreat on a Friday evening at a restaurant and head to the cabin after we eat dinner.  At the cabin we spend time with a craft and then we have a devotion and spend the rest of the evening playing games and encouraging one another in our homeschool endeavor and asking and answering questions.   By this time we are half-way through the school year and may need some encouragement to keep up with the good work.  So we hope to use this time to recharge each other.

Some choose to just stay for the evening and go home.  Others spend the night and have breakfast at the cabin.  Each year the time it ends has been different depending on the families’ schedules.  Everyone brings delicious snacks/desserts for the evening and those who choose to spend the night usually brings something to contribute to breakfast.  The cabin has a functional kitchen. It is a relaxed atmosphere.  We always have a wonderful time!

Q: What is Open House?

A: Open house is a time where you can invite your extended family to come and see what your children have accomplished in their school year. There is a program that covers what we've done in co-op.
It can also include other things.  For example:  If your child has taken piano lessons this year and you would like your child to play something that can be arranged.  Or if you would like to display something your child worked on through the year. During the program certificates will be given to the kids. We will have snacks at the end of the program while families view the art  and other work the students have done.

Q: What is SEC?

A: SEC (Spring Enrichment Classes) is a  held in the spring for about 7 weeks.  It is where families come together and we teach all the students a particular class.  Much planning is involved each year on the co-op. Every year the mothers come together and brainstorm of what classes we would like to see our children take or what we think our kids have an interest in.  That is where it begins.

Every year is different as far as the classes that are taught. A few examples are:

Art
Composer Study
Physics or other science program
Choir
Study on foreign languages:  French, German, and Spanish
Gym
Research
Sewing
Drama
Wood shop

Q: Does Arrows offer Standardized Testing?

A: Yes - If there is interest we offer it.  It is usually held in the spring after the co-op.  Those who are interested in having their child tested will be asked to volunteer in some way.  It is required that the testers have a college degree.  Others can volunteer by setting up, clean up or by watching the children who are not testing. Testing is now available online as well.

Q: What do I need to know about field trips?

A: Anyone can set up a field trip.  It is not left up to Arrows leaders only. If you have an interest in going somewhere and think that it would be a fun field trip get all the information you can about it and bring it up at the moms meeting or contact one of the leaders of Arrows and talk to them about it.  You would be considered the contact person for that event. The leadership team will make sure the event is posted on the web site and on the web site's calendar.

Q: Why do we have fundraisers?

A: Arrows from God has fundraisers to help with expenses on a variety of things.  Most likely all families that home school come from a single income home.  Cost occurs with every event usually.  Fundraisers help keep costs to a minimum.

Proceeds of the fundraisers will go towards:
Annual Picnic - kick off the school year event in August.
Open House- An event at the end of the Co-op.
Co-op Curriculum
Gym equipment
Other activities/supplies that will be helpful to the families of Arrows in the education of their children.

Fundraisers that we have had in the past are:
Entertainment Books
Box Tops
Concession Stand at a gospel concert
Yard Sales
If you have any suggestions on a fundraiser we could do let us know.
